Bring Sashiko to your Table

Bring Sashiko to your Table

Published by BeBe Bold on 20th Aug 2019

What better way to welcome guests to your table than to dress it with tableware that you have made yourself. We have a few creative ideas with sashiko to help you make your table your own.

Sashiko Tablerunners:
We have a range of sashiko tablerunner designs available to perfectly complement your table setting. First we choose a pre-stencilled sashiko fabric, available on the bolt. To this we then add sashiko threads of complementary colours. After we have done all our sashiko stitching and the cotton cloth has been washed, border and backing fabrics are added.

Kits are available with comprehensive instructions on how to stitch the pre-stencilled sashiko design, guiding you through the process to completion. Kits are designed for us by Australian sashiko specialist Jane MacDonald. We have the Petal Sashiko Tablerunner Kit and the Asanoha Tablerunner Kit currently available.

Sashiko Coasters:
Our coaster kits arrive directly from Japan and have full English instructions included, with diagrams and images that are very easy to follow. These include the Sashiko Coaster Collection from Olympus Thread which includes 5 coasters per pack. There are five different tsumugi shot cotton colours to choose from.

Sashiko Napkins:
We use hana-fukin or sashiko samplers as napkins in our house. There is real joy in using a handmade cloth to complement your meal. Don't worry that they will get dirty, they can always be washed! That is the aim, to use these items, in your everyday routines around the table.
